Overview
MTB NAAT amplifies M. tuberculosis complex DNA from respiratory (and some extrapulmonary) specimens, often simultaneously detecting rifampin-resistance–associated mutations.

Specimen Requirements

Analytical Method

Reference Values

Expected: MTB complex not detected. Rifampin-resistance probes are reported only when MTB is detected and the assay includes that channel.

Critical and significant-risk microbiology findings (e.g., positive blood culture, CSF pathogen) follow institutional urgent-notification pathways. Confirm the local call list. Textbook examples are not universal thresholds.
